Let’s have some fun with a needle and thread! This class will be an introduction to hand sewing (a necessary skill) and basic sewing machine skills. Students will have the opportunity to let their creativity shine while designing and sewing embellished bookmarks, postcards, and journal covers. We will end the session with a personalized apron. In this 6-week series, students will learn the process of applying acrylic in layers to produce depth and richness that translates into representational art. First, they will focus on establishing value mapping in a painting using a monochromatic palette. Then they’ll learn how to use transparent and semi-transparent color glazes of acrylic, allowing the value that has been established underneath to show through.
