Dickens Christmas 2023
Dickens Christmas will begin on November 24th and continue weekends through December 24th. The event takes place in downtown Skaneateles and is free to attend. Get into the holiday spirit with roasted chestnuts, theater, caroling, pictures with Father Christmas, and more at Dickens Christmas in Skaneateles!

The following occur every Saturday and Sunday from Thanksgiving thru Dec 23 PLUS Fri, Nov 24 Noon-4pm & Sun Dec 24 Noon-2:30pm
Presented by: Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Skaneateles-Area Businesses
*FREE PARKING ~ Locations: Free parking is available in the Austin Park Pavilion lot at the corner of Jordan and Austin streets, and in the lower gravel lot of Skaneateles High School across from Leitch Avenue. The first four weekends, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., a free shuttle will run between these two lots and the village, stopping behind Doug’s Fish Fry. The shuttle is made possible by support from First Student buses, Visit Syracuse, Doug’s Fish Fry and the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
*Paid parking is available in the municipal lot between Jordan and State streets.
*Noon kick-off to Dickens each day on the porch of the Hannum House (corner of Genesee & Hannum Streets)
*Strolling Dickens characters performing interactive street theatre
*Father Christmas greets children from 12:30-2 pm, and 3-4 pm at the Masonic Temple Porch, 13 E. Genesee St.
*Free roasted chestnuts in front of Pure Placid (61 E Genesee Street). Brought to you by: Pure Placid and TOPS Friendly Markets

Meet Queen Victoria, Father Christmas, Scrooge, Tiny Tim, the Spirit of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Jacob Marley, along with the finishing school girls, pickpockets & other villagers! Grand opening immediately following the parade on the steps of the Hannum House next to the Sherwood Inn.

Gazebo Trunk Show - A Sleepy Hollow Trunk Show with Washington Irving at 12:30 pm Midday Revels—Christmas carol sing-along—2 p.m. Saturday & Sunday at the gazebo. Twelve groups form, representing the 12 days of Christmas. The groups vie for attention, and at the end, Queen Victoria awards a silver teasel to the most spirited performer. Winners have been known to wear their coveted silver teasels throughout the season. “A Christmas Carol” trunk shows, in which Dickens performs lighthearted versions of his new story with help from the audience, 3 p.m. at the Library. Complimentary Roasted Chestnuts are available throughout the day in front of Pure Placid located at 61 E Genesee St. - Chestnuts are donated by Tops Friendly Markets and made possible by Pure Placid. We will continue the celebration over at the Gazebo at Clift Park with the lighting of the Gazebo tree and Christmas Carols led by local Girl Scouts. End the night at the Skaneateles United Methodist Church with Mother Goose and cocoa served by the Girl Scouts. We truly look forward to celebrating the beginning of the Holiday season with you!

Parking Information
Paid parking is available in the municipal lot between Jordan and State Streets.
Free parking is available in the Austin Park Pavilion lot at the corner of Jordan and Austin Streets, and in the lower gravel lot of Skaneateles High School across from Leitch Avenue.
The first four weekends, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., a free shuttle will run between these two lots and the village, stopping behind Doug’s Fish Fry. The shuttle is made possible by support from First Student buses, Visit Syracuse, Doug’s Fish Fry and the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Skaneateles Sings~
December 1 6:30pm
At 6:30 p.m. at the Skaneateles Library, Pastor Justin Hood of the United Methodist Church will dedicate the crèche in a candlelit ceremony. For those arriving early, Father Christmas will greet children and pose for photos starting at 6 p.m.
The ceremony will be followed by candlelit caroling with the Dickens characters; lighting of the Christmas tree and remarks at the gazebo; a reception at the United Methodist Church with Father Christmas; and an open house at village stores.
Leading up to the event, from 4 to 6 p.m., the Barrow Art Gallery will host a Holiday Open House with live piano music, gift shopping and refreshments.
Skaneateles Sings is sponsored by the Skaneateles Bakery and organized by the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Skaneateles Girl Scouts and Skaneateles Garden Club.
